This morning, as I arrived at the newsroom and glanced at the screen, one headline froze everything around me:
\n“Glacier burst feared due to rising temperatures in northern regions \u2014 PDMA issues high alert.”<\/p>\n
This isn\u2019t a movie plot. This is reality \u2014 and the bitter truth is, we kept dreaming while the world changed around us.
\nThe Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has sounded the alarm for Chitral, Dir, Swat, and surrounding areas.
\nThey warn that an unusual spike in temperatures could trigger sudden glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs).
\nRescue teams have been mobilized, emergency resources prepared, and tourists advised to avoid unnecessary travel.<\/p>\n
But the real question is \u2014 why is this happening?
\nThis is not divine punishment.
\nIt is nature\u2019s response \u2014 to us.
\nWe cut down forests, poisoned the skies, blocked the rivers, and ripped the lungs of the earth in the name of development.
\nWe hurt nature, and now the wounds are speaking.
\nThe glaciers are melting rapidly, the rivers are roaring, and the mountains are angry.<\/p>\n
When we showed no mercy to nature,
\nhow can we expect nature to show mercy to us?<\/p>\n
Today\u2019s warning could be tomorrow\u2019s disaster.
\nIf these glaciers burst, it won\u2019t just be water that flows \u2014 homes will vanish, lives will be lost, and generations will suffer.
\nFlickering candles will be snuffed out.
\nAnd we\u2019ll be left asking: could we have prevented this?<\/p>\n
Yes. We can \u2014 but only if we act now.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s time to wake up.
\nTime to show kindness \u2014 to ourselves, to our planet, and to our future.
\nWe must take bold, practical steps against global warming.
\nWe must plant trees, enforce environmental policies, reduce emissions, and reconnect our youth with nature.<\/p>\n
Please, let this be our moment of realization.
\nThis earth is our mother \u2014 and no mother keeps warning forever.
\nIf we don\u2019t change now,
