ISLAMABAD, Dec 19 (EPI): Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan has reviewed and updated the curriculum of BS and MS degree programmes of Physical Education in line with the emerging trends and needs as well as global standards. Notably, this update is significant, as the curriculum for Physical Education was last developed in 2014.<\/p>\n
A two-day meeting of National Curriculum Review Committee (NCRC) brought together representatives of 18 institutions across Pakistan that offer BS and MS programmes in Physical Education at the University of the Punjab, showcasing a shared commitment to enhancing the academic and professional standards of these programmes.<\/p>\n
The discussion focused on modernising the curriculum to reflect emerging trends, align with global standards, and address the evolving needs within the Physical Education sector in Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Professor Dr. Zafar Iqbal Butt, Chair of the Department of Sports Sciences at the University of the Punjab Lahore, was unanimously elected as the convener and presided the meeting. His extensive knowledge and leadership played a key role in refining and updating the curriculum framework.<\/p>\n
In his remarks during the meeting, Director General (Academics) HEC Dr. Amjad Hussain underscored the importance of creating an innovative and forward-thinking curriculum that fosters excellence in education and research related to Physical Education. He said HEC acknowledges the valuable contributions of all participants and institutions to the successful review and update.<\/p>\n
The newly updated curriculum is poised to significantly enhance the preparedness of graduates, enabling them to make meaningful contributions to the fields of Physical Education, sports, and health.<\/p>\n
