ISLAMABAD, Jan 02 (EPI): National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), Higher Education Commission (HEC), has launched training programme for group of 23 fresh PhDs under its National Faculty Development Programme (NFDP).<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0opening ceremony of the programme was held\u00a0at the Training Hall NAHE, Islamabad\u00a0with\u00a0Director NAHE, Mr.\u00a0Sulaiman Ahmad\u00a0in the chair.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0training participants\u00a0comprise\u00a0fresh PhD graduates, under HEC\u2019s\u00a0Interim Placement of Fresh PhDs Programme\u00a0(IPFP), who represent diverse disciplines. These participants will undergo rigorous training focused on teaching excellence, research skills, and professional development.<\/p>\n
In his\u00a0welcome\u00a0address, Mr. Sulaiman Ahmad highlighted the critical role of faculty in shaping the academic future of Pakistan. He congratulated the participants on their selection and emphasised the importance of continuous learning and skill enhancement. “As educators, your responsibility goes beyond the classroom. You are the torchbearers of knowledge, innovation, and progress in our society,” he remarked.<\/p>\n
NFDP aims to equip fresh PhDs with essential tools and techniques for effective teaching and research, ensuring they are well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Faculty development is essential for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in higher education settings. By improving the capabilities and effectiveness of university faculty, institutions can better contribute to multiple SDGs.<\/p>\n
Faculty development aligns with and supports various SDGs\u00a0including SDG-4 (Quality Education), SDG-5 (Gender Equality), SDG-8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG-10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG-13 (Climate Action) and SDG-16 (Peace, Justice and strong Institutions)<\/p>\n
By investing in faculty development, educational institutions can significantly advance the SDGs, ensuring quality education for all and fostering innovation, and promotes sustainable development across various sectors.<\/p>\n
The training programme\u00a0will continue until January\u00a017,\u00a02025, featuring expert-led sessions, interactive workshops, and hands-on activities. NAHE remains committed to nurturing academic excellence and fostering a culture of innovation through such initiatives.<\/p>\n
