Federal Minister for Human Rights launches Second phase of Huqooq-e-Pakistan Program in collaboration with the European Union
ISLAMABAD, Dec 09 (EPI): The Federal Minister for Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, officially launched the second phase of the “Promotion of Human Rights in Pakistan” program, Huqooq-e-Pakistan II, in partnership with the European Union. This initiative reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to advancing human rights over the next five years.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Senator Tarar highlighted the European Union’s pivotal role as a key partner in fostering human rights, trade, and mutual understanding. He praised the achievements of the first phase, which trained over 700 judicial and law enforcement officials, introduced human rights education into judicial curricula, and launched Pakistan’s first Human Rights Information Resource Portal.
Building on this foundation, the second phase introduces innovative elements such as a *Business and Human Rights framework* and advanced digital tools for improved reporting and policymaking.
Senator Tarar emphasized the program’s inclusive approach, collaborating with civil society, UN agencies, academia, and the private sector to ensure diverse voices are represented.
The program aims to strengthen national human rights institutions, improve governmental reporting mechanisms, and promote human rights education, aligning with international norms.
The Minister expressed gratitude to the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme for their support, calling for collective efforts to make human rights a lived reality for all Pakistanis.
