PBC shows concern over unlawfully restraining Chaudhry Faisal Fareed, Advocate

ISLAMABAD, Feb 07 (EPI):  Pakistan Bar Council has shown concerns over act of Adyala Jail administration for unlawfully restraining Chaudhry Faisal Fareed, Advocate, Supreme Court, to attend Anti-Terrorist Court proceedings, established in the Adyala Jail, when he was to perform his professional duties.

According to statement issued by Secretary PBC,Ch. Tahir Nasrullah Warraich, Vice-Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council, and Muhammad Yaseen Azad, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council, have expressed their concerns upon act of Adyala Jail administration for unlawfully restraining Chaudhry Faisal Fareed, Advocate, Supreme Court, to attend Anti-Terrorist Court proceedings, established in the Adyala Jail, when he was to perform his professional duties. The Jail administration prevented him to appear in proceedings without legal justification.

They considers it as one of the barrier in provision of justice and condemned & demanded not to repeat such like acts in future and lawyers should be allowed to attend court proceedings and perform their professional duties freely and without any hindrance.

They also have expressed their great concerns upon raids being conducted on the residences of lawyers and their arrests by the Punjab Police and said that Advocates should not be fixed or attached with any political party as they only perform their professional duties to protect the interest of their respective clients as per law.
