SCBAP condemns Suicide Blast at Dar-ul-Aloom, Jamia Haqani, Akora-Khattak
ISLAMABAD, Feb 28 (EPI): Mian Muhammad Rauf Atta, President and the 27th Executive Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP), have strongly condemned the suicide blast at Dar-ul-Aloom, Jamia Haqani, Akora-Khattak, Nowshera, Khyber-Paktunkhawa (KPK,) which claimed numerous lives including Molana Hamid Ul Haq Haqani, and left many injured. Another blast in Quetta claimed one innocent life and leaving several people injured.
Although it appears that the unfortunate incident at Dar-ul-Aloom Jamia Haqania was a serious security breach, the recent surge in terrorist activities across the country, particularly in the provinces of Baluchistan and KPK, is deeply interlinked and extremely alarming. Mere words are not enough to condemn these incidents; the situation demands practical steps to prevent the recurrence of such events, which also isolate our country in the comity of nations, President opined.
These incidents are part of a continuing series of numerous unfortunate events to which this Association has been drawing attention for quite some time. However, it seems that those responsible for handling law and order affairs are unconcerned and oblivious to the loss of innocent and precious lives.
The aforementioned incidents is not only a failure of law enforcement agencies, but the provincial and federal governments are equally responsible for the recurrence of such heart-wrenching incidents, President viewed.
The President said that it is distressing to note that, on one hand, the KPK government is so engrossed in political endeavors to achieve its petty political goals that it has completely dismissed the agenda of law and order, leaving the innocent populace at the mercy of terrorists.
On the other hand, the federal government including interior ministry are wasting their energies on the renovation of stadiums, with all their attention focused on the game of cricket while people are dying ruthlessly. Similarly, the recurring incidents of killings of innocent people on the highways of Balochistan are alarming, but it seems that no one, either in the ruling elite or in law enforcement, is concerned.
He said that this situation is leading the entire country toward a system breakdown due to misplaced priorities. The need of the hour is to prioritize law and order and the tranquility of the common men, adding that same goes for all the political parties. Without a stable law and order situation, the dream of economic stability seems far-fetched.
We once again call upon the federal and provincial governments to investigate today’s unfortunate incidents and ensure that the elements behind these barbaric crimes are dealt with swiftly, nipped in bud ,without further delay, he said.
Our hearts go out to those who lost their loved ones in today’s unfortunate incidents, and we pray for the swift recovery of those who were injured, statement says.
