Helping Hand announces Rs1.4 billion aid for flood victims

ISLAMABAD, Sep 30 (EPI): Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) on Tuesday has announced 1.4 Billion Rupees in aid for flood victims in Pakistan.

HHRD, a US-based global humanitarian organization established by Pakistani Americans, has emerged as a beacon of hope for millions of vulnerable families in Pakistan.

During a media briefing country director HHRD Muhammad Salim Mansoori said that from June to September, relief has been provided to over 100,000 victims. 2,190 ration packs were distributed among the victims, and medical camps were set up in 13 affected areas, where 16,162 people received medical facilities, he added. He said that 5,853 people in affected areas were provided with clean drinking water, and 31,294 people were provided with prepared meals.

Mansoori said Helping Hand provided 230 hygiene kits to the flood victims, as well as 755 solar kits were distributed among the victims so they could have light in the absence of electricity. Similarly, 269 jerry cans for water, 982 mosquito nets, and 1,132 gifts for children were provided, he added.

Country director HHRD said that Helping Hand has installed 105 water filtration plants in the affected areas to provide clean water. The victims were also provided with 256 tents and tarpaulins during relief activities.

“These relief operations were conducted in Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Sargodha, Lahore, Jhang, Buner, Swat, Mansehra, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Neelum Azad Kashmir, Gilgit, Kot Addu, Narowal, Kasur, Jaranwala, Bahawalpur, Multan, and Karachi” he said. Mansoori said thaid relief activities are still ongoing in the flood-affected areas.

He said the organization marks its 20th year of service, it has successfully implemented over 10,000 relief and development projects worldwide, benefiting nearly 45 million people across 132 districts in all provinces of Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

“Following the devastating floods of 2025, which displaced millions and destroyed thousands of homes, HHRD has been at the forefront of emergency response” Mr Mansoori said.

He said that relief operations have included the deployment of movable water filtration systems, mobile health clinics, search-and-rescue teams on boats, food provisions, SMILES Boxes for children, hygiene kits, and other essential supplies.

“Beyond flood response, HHRD’s development programs continue to make a lasting impact” mansoori said.

He said that he Orphan Support Program provides education, healthcare, and emotional support to over 10,500 orphaned children, while the Children with Disabilities Program has delivered specialized therapies to more than 2,000 children.

He explained that Educational Support Program and Youth Empowerment Program together have empowered tens of thousands of students with scholarships, school construction, internships, and leadership training opportunities.

Country director HHRD alsi said that the Skills Development and Livelihood Program has trained over 78,000 individuals, with a strong focus on empowering women through vocational training and income-generating opportunities.
