No one to be spared who made vulgar comments over my attire: Gharida Farooqi
ISLAMABAD, April 24 (EPI): One of the top TV anchors Gharida Farooqi has categorically stated that none of those social media users would be spared who had made vulgar comments about her dressing on eve of Iran-United States.
Posting on the X account with the title ‘Important Announcement’, the TV anchor wrote, ‘I immediately filed a complaint with the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) against all those who have been conducting a systematic campaign of vulgar, obscene, harassing, gender-based digital violence and online crime against my image/clothing since April 11, 2026.
Gharida Farooqi further wrote in her post that, “The concerned authority has taken the best action and started actions and arrests against all of them. She said that a criminal has been captured from Chiniot (whose details are being posted in the picture and the evidence of the dirty video he made is also with me and the concerned agency.
She claimed that “the remaining culprits will be arrested in the next few hours. Now there will be no use in deleting tweets/posts because everyone’s evidence has been preserved. Not a single one will be left out.
The TV anchor wrote, “This was not just an attack over one woman, it is an attack and a way to terrorize all women. The excellent action being taken by the Cyber Crime Agency will not only give women a sense of security in this society but will also increase their confidence in the strict enforcement of the law and the strength of institutions.
Gharida Farooqi concluded her post by saying, “I am also very grateful to the head of the Cyber Crime Agency, DG Syed Khurram Ali, who has personally monitored this matter and has a zero-tolerance policy on crimes against women. Along with this, a huge thank you to the agency and the entire team and a very great job.
The TV anchor’s attire was criticized while she was at a media center set up at the Islamabad Convention Center during talks between Iran and the United States.
