The said initiative has been appreciated by judges, lawyers, students, researchers and the general public. Urdu Translation of Federal Laws
Now, as a step forward Urdu translation of Federal Laws for the general public is being launched by the honourable Minister of Law & Justice Mr. Ahmad Irfan Aslam in the presence of the Secretary Law Mr. Raja Naeem Akbar and the officials of the Ministry of Law and Justice. The purpose of this initiative is to provide easy access to the general public in national language i.e. Urdu. So far, most frequently viewed Laws have been uploaded on the said website.
Digitalization of Reference Branch
The reference branch is a pivotal part of the Ministry of Law and Justice. The primary responsibility of the reference room is to preserve copies of gazette notifications, laws, and other documents. However, over the years, the paper-based documents have deteriorated, and there is a continuous fear of loss in case of any disaster. As a step to save documents, a digital archiving system is being developed in the Ministry of Law and Justice. An initiative to develop an in-house document archival system for digital archiving is underway. This system will have features such as version control, an intelligent search system, and user logs.
Library Management Information System
Furthermore, the Ministry of Law and Justice has developed a Library Management Information System (LMIS) which is a web-based off-the-shelf system, developed internally by the project team accessible link http://LMIS.molaw.gov.pk. All employees of the Federal Government can access the books and after having membership the books can be issued. Currently, 9679 books are digitally catalogued on the LMIS.
