Supreme Court Bar condemns horrific attack on coal miners in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD, Oct 11 (EPI): Muhammad Shahzad Shaukat President, Syed Ali Imran Secretary and the 26th Executive Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP) have condemned the horrific attack in Duki ( Baluchistan ) which resulted in killing of over 20 coal miners and leaving several severely injured. The unknown assailants also caused severe destruction to the coal mine facility and its equipment.

They viewed that this attack seems to be part of a disturbing pattern of insurgency in the area, which has been plagued by violence for a considerable period. Just a month ago, a similar attack claimed the lives of more than 30 innocent workers.

It is deeply concerning that despite the deteriorating situation, those in positions of authority appear complacent, totally unaware of the pressing need for improved law and order, they opined. The ruling elite must not ignore the gravity of the situation as responsibility to ensure the safety and security of every citizen rest on their shoulders.

They have urged the concerned authorities including provincial government to take swift and decisive action to bring the perpetrators to justice. Peace and tranquility are the rights of all citizens, and it is the unbounded duty of those in power to safeguard these fundamental rights, this they said.

In the end, they have extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in this senseless attack and also prayed for the swift recovery of those injured and affected by this tragic event.
