FOSPAH restores possession of over 5 kanal land
ISLAMABAD, Oct 25 (EPI): Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment (FOSPAH) has ordered the restoration of possession of over 5 kanals of land to three complainants, Sajeela Naeem, Shaheen Akhtar, and Asma Akbar.
The decision, issued by FOSPAH under the Enforcement of Women’s Property Rights Act, 2020, was swiftly complied with by the Deputy Commissioner, ensuring that justice was delivered. As per the view of the complainants, the Hameed Nawaz group, which has multiple FIRs filed against them for illegal land occupation, had been holding the property unlawfully.
The complainants recounted stories of violence and intimidation at the hands of armed men sent by Hameed Nawaz, who demolished their homes with heavy machinery, leaving families homeless and devastated. These women and their families faced not only physical displacement but emotional trauma as they were forced to watch their homes and belongings being destroyed.
The Hon’ble Ombudsperson took speedy action, issuing an order to the Deputy Commissioner, who acted promptly to ensure the complainants’ land was restored. FOSPAH’s intervention brought an end to the distress experienced by the complainants, who expressed profound gratitude for the speedy process and just resolution of their case.
Asma Akbar, an overseas Pakistani and mother of four daughters, described her despair as she sought help from multiple forums, only to be met with silence. “I felt like no one was listening to us, no one cared,” she shared. “FOSPAH was our last hope, and they delivered.”
“This victory is a weight off our shoulders,” said Sajeela Naeem, one of the complainants. “We are thankful to FOSPAH for their timely action in returning our land.”
The case highlights FOSPAH’s commitment to providing timely and effective justice, particularly in protecting women’s property rights.
