National Journalists Conference Condemns Israeli Aggression; Calls for Gaza, Lebanon Ceasefire
ISLAMABAD, Oct 28 (EPI): The Palestine Foundation Pakistan, in collaboration with Journalists, held a National Journalists Conference to express solidarity with Palestine and Lebanon at a local hotel in Islamabad. Senior journalists, columnists, analysts, and anchors participated in the event, voicing their concerns and condemning the ongoing Israeli aggression in Palestine and Lebanon.
The speakers called upon the global community and international organizations, including the United Nations, OIC, Arab League, and European Union, to play an active role in enforcing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon and for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
Notable Journalists such as Senior Journalist Hamid Mir, Senior Columnist Sajjad Azhar, Senior Journalists Iftikhar Shirazi, Harmeet Singh, Shakeel Qarar, Dr. Sajjad Bukhari, Professor Shozab Askari, Journalists Razi Tahir, Nadir Baloch, Sajid Gondal as well as the Secretary General of Palestine Foundation, Dr. Sabir Abu Maryam, shared their views.
Senior Journalist Hamid Mir remarked that Pakistan stands with the people of Palestine, following in the footsteps of Pakistan’s founder; Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Journalist Iftikhar Shirazi mentioned that the people of Palestine are fighting on behalf of the entire Muslim Ummah, while anchor Harmeet Singh stated that the issue of Gaza and Lebanon is fundamentally a humanitarian one and that anyone with humanity would openly condemn Netanyahu’s terrorism.
Dr. Sabir Abu Maryam highlighted that the people of Gaza are waiting for our support, urging leaders to awaken and become their voice. Journalist Razi Tahir lifted his little daughter and expressed that he sees no difference between her (Elaaf) and the innocent children of Gaza, mentioning that over a thousand children in Gaza have been martyred after living only a few breaths.
The conference attendees unanimously approved a resolution paying tribute to journalists working in conflict zones, particularly in Gaza and southern Lebanon, and offered condolences to the families of nearly 190 journalists who have sacrificed their lives for their duty.
The resolution honored martyrs like Ismail Haniyeh, Hassan Nasrallah, Yahya Sinwar, Saleh Al-Arouri, Hashem Safi Al-Din, Nilforoshan, and all freedom fighters who were martyred along the path to Jerusalem.
The resolution condemned international media outlets that label Palestinians and Lebanese defending their land as “terrorists” and called upon the Pakistani government to provide moral, practical, and diplomatic support to the people of Palestine and Lebanon. Additionally, it urged an end to the repression of voices raised for Palestine and the filing of terrorism cases against them.
The conference concluded with a special prayer for the martyrs of Gaza and Lebanon.
A large number of journalists attended, including anchorpersons Tahseen Ullah Tahseen, Jahangir Khan, Senior Journalist Farrukh Nawaz Bhatti, Reporters Qamar Maken, Sabeen Shehbaz, Saqlain Hamwana, Bilal Abbasi, Inam Goraya, and social activists such as Ahsan Ayaz Khetran, Farkhanda Kokab, Murtaza Warraich, Fahad Gul, and Ahmed Osama Tahir.
