Thirty-three new families of enforced disappeared individuals approach Commission

ISLAMABAD, Dec 03 (EPI): At least thirty-three new families of enforced disappeared individuals have approached the Commission of inquiry on enforced disappearances (COIED) formed for recovery of abductees.

The Commission successfully traced the nine citizens in last month of November, 7 among those nine have returned to their home, while one of them found in jail and another one present in internment center.

According to the document available with Exact Press International (EPI), The recovery commission formed in March 2011 under the supervision of Justice (R) Jawed Iqbal, has received total 10438 application for tracing and recovery of missing persons and commission has disposed of 8172 cases till December 01.

In November, the Commissions received new applications from the 33 heirs of missing person while Commission disposed of 28 cases during month. In start of December total 2266 cases are pending.

According to the Commission’s documents since the formation of Commission 286 dead bodies of missing persons have been recovered while 9 dead bodies have been recovers this year during period from June to 1st of December 2024.
